New York
In the US state of New York, more than 21,000 cases of corona virus infection were reported in a day, which is the highest daily number of cases in the country so far. About half of the infections were reported in New York City, where queues are getting longer outside testing centers and many Christmas organizers are canceling events because their members were infected. Earlier, the state had reported the highest daily cases on January 14, 2021, when around 20,000 people were found infected.

Dr. Dennis Nash, executive director of the Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health at the City University of New York, said the sharp increase in infections should be a matter of great concern. But this had to happen due to the rapid spread of the infection of Omicron form. Dennis said, ‘We are dealing with the problem of rapid increase in cases of infection in winter due to Delta and that in itself is a matter of concern.’
Precaution! Omicron can cause 5000 deaths every day in winter, danger of lockdown looming over Britain
Weekly average up 71 percent
He said, ‘After this, now came the new Omicron form, which is more contagious from the point of view of infection.’ He added that existing vaccines may be unable to prevent relapse. Out of the cases of infection reported in the state, about 10,300 cases were reported in the city. In New York state, an average of 13,257 people were found infected daily for the seven-day period ended Thursday. This is 71 percent more than the last two weeks.

Cases highest in Britain for the third consecutive day
Omicron, a new variant of the corona virus, is wreaking havoc in Britain as well. Meanwhile, ‘Professor Lockdown’ suggested today that the UK’s winter Omicron death toll could reach 5,000 if appropriate restrictions are not put in place. This warning comes at a time when Britain has reported a record number of corona cases for the third consecutive day. In the last 24 hours, 93,045 people have been found corona positive, which shows a jump of 60 percent in a week.
