Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed has warned that Prime Minister Imran Khan will be summoned if a prisoner is not produced before the apex court from the detention centre. This has been told in the media reports on Tuesday. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ahmed said this while hearing a case against the detention of Arif Gul, accused of attacking an army camp near the Afghanistan border, reported The Express Tribune.

The court asked- have the accused been brought?
Pakistan’s Supreme Court has said that it (apex court) will summon the prime minister if Gul is not produced before the court from the detention centre. When the Chief Justice asked the Additional Attorney General whether they had brought the accused, he (Additional Attorney General) replied, “Arif Gul is in the detention center and it is difficult to bring him.”

‘Lock the courts’
To this the CJI said, “If he is not produced, then seal the courts.” The court also has the power to summon the leadership. Why has the issue of Gul’s citizenship not been resolved? This subject is under investigation since 2019.’ Judge Jamal Mandokhel, who was involved in the bench, said, “Is the law under which Arif Gul has been kept in the detention center valid?”

He said that FATA has now been merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the accused cannot be produced on Monday. Thereafter, the court adjourned the hearing for Tuesday.
