Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy got stuck on the flyover for about 15 to 20 minutes while going to Ferozepur by road from Bathinda airport in Punjab. Seeing the PM’s convoy trapped, the SPG personnel deployed in his security swung into action. The SPG personnel immediately took out their mega-destroyer machine guns and formed a security cordon around PM Modi’s car. This machine gun is being discussed a lot on social media these days. Let us know everything about this machine gun.
According to experts, the SPG personnel engaged in the security of PM Modi were equipped with FN P90 submachine guns made in Belgium. This is the same submachine gun that is also used by the US Secret Service personnel. The Secret Service is responsible for the security of many VVIPs, including the President and Vice President of America. SPG personnel currently use Belgium-made FN-2000 Herstal and its smaller counterpart P90 submachine for the protection of PM Modi.
Capable of firing 850 bullets in a minute
After 26/11 Mumbai attack, world class weapons have been provided to SPG and NSG personnel. Both the FN-2000 assault rifle and the P90 submachine gun have the capability to fire 850 bullets in a minute. Their effective range is up to 500 meters. Usually SPG personnel do not display their weapons in public, but on Republic Day and Independence Day, SPG personnel are dressed in combat uniform and have both FN-2000 assault rifles and P90 sub-machine guns. Soldiers armed with machine guns keep all four of PM Modi as a security cordon.
Like PM Modi, the President of America is protected. The soldiers closest to the security of the US President keep their machine guns hidden inside their suits. At the same time, there is another team which maintains security arrangements with heavy weapons from a short distance. In this way, the SPG and the Secret Service work on almost the same strategy and their weapons are also almost the same.
Policemen and military personnel are being used in 40 countries
A magazine of the P90 submachine gun holds 50 rounds. The shape of this machine gun is very strange to see but once it is learned to operate, it turns into a super-destructive weapon. Through this, special operations and counter-terrorism operations are successfully carried out. This machine gun is currently being used by policemen and military personnel in 40 countries. Apart from India, this includes Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Greece, Malaysia, America. This machine gun is made by Belgium’s FN Herstal company. The cost of a P90 submachine is Rs 1,10,599.
